Bargain Fly Rods

temple fork Lefty Kreh Signature Fly Rod Series

Temple Fork Outfitters Lefty Kreh Signature Series Fly Rods are a great bargain at $89.95.  These rods come in a two piece model only.  Models range from a 6' 2wt to a 9' 10 wt.  All models feature top grade components and IM6 graphite blanks.

Temple Fork Lefty Kreh Professional Series are designed by world famous fly fisherman Lefty Kreh.  The Professional series are four piece only.  Models range from an 8' 2wt to a massive 15 foot 10wt Spey rod.  All models come with a lifetime warranty, top grade components and an IM6 graphite blank.  Prices range from $89.95 to $299.95 with most at $139 or $149.  As with most rods, the longer the rod and the heavier line wt, the higher the price.

Bargain Fly Reels

Ross Fly Reels are one of my favorite reels because they are manufactured right here in Montrose, Colorado.  And they offer a lifetime warranty. Ross reels are also the best selling flyreels on the market. (I purchased a Ross Rhythm in 2005 and love it.  The drag is ultra smooth and the palming rim makes it easy to stop a running fish.  But the Rhythm is $200 and is not in our bargain category.)

Leading off our bargain fly reels is the Ross Flywater Series.  Prices range from $89 for a 3, 4, 5wt to $109 for a 6, 7, 8wt.  Recommended for Fly Fishing in Colorado is the 4, 5, 6wt at a modest $99.  (I gave away a Ross Flywater reel last year as part of my 1st prize in our www.fly-fishing-colorado.com contest.  The winner really likes it too.)

Orvis

Rocky Mountain(R) Large Arbor Reels 3/4 Reel, lines 2-5, 6 oz., 3 3/4" diameter
At a mere $79, the Orvis Rocky Mountain Large Arbor Reel is one of the best bargains around. Made in Britain from cast aluminum keeps the weight to a minimum.

A Quick-change cartridge spool system makes it easy to be prepared for all most any angling situation.  Reasonably priced extra spools ($19) for carrying different lines for different angling situations are available. Spools have a convenient line identification system molded into the cartridge. Leader keeper on the reel foot secures the leader when the reel is not in use, makes the end of the leader easy to locate when you next string-up. Easy left-hand to right-hand conversion.

Orvis Rocky Mountain Reels use an offset adjustable disc-drag system similar to that used in our Battenkill Reel series
